The swing has swung back to the employer. The ball is in their court. Supply and demand favors them. This is unlikely to change for the long term future, unless you have accumulated experience that is advanced or rare. If you have some kind of niche offering, then you still may be able to command your requests. Otherwise, you're just another resume in a growing pile. So my advice is shut up and get on with it. If you are grossly unhappy, then make a positive move and consider a career change. You can ALWAYS come back to this industry if you have a medical. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, but it's pretty much all downhill from now on.
