Quicker to shut down, load and restart an AS350 than doing a hot load. Hot loading appears faster because there is more going on than a cold load, which seems leisurely without the stress of safely operating under a spinning rotor. But that's where the time is gained- clear communications, less restriction on activity near the aircraft, the load is 25-50% quicker. Restart after the scene crew is clear, I'm at ground idle waiting as the flight nurse emplanes, just as I would be after the slower hot load.

If the medics ask for a hot load, I watch the scene activity. If I don't see stretchers/sleds after 10 minutes, I shut down and do a good ground recon and interact with the scene crew. Watch for ambulance doors opening...

Never shut down where a faiure to start would block traffic significantly.
