The customers are the problem. They talk out of both sides of their mouth. The oil company CEO's and safety people pontificate about Safety being priority one. They talk about wanting safe operators. Then they turn their procurement department vultures loose on the transportation companies and drive them to cut corners or be forced into bankruptcy. The operators who have robust training on both the ops and maintenance side simply cost more. You want to be safe? Pay it. Sadly they care more about their bottom line than they do their own people. They can say what they want, but to the oil companies, the only thing that is finite is the oil reserve. There Is an endless pool of people. You are replaceable in the oil companies business model. That won't change.
