As a factual counterpoint, I offer that pilots should finish texts etc after engine start(s) while idling. There is no danger in this phase of operation and you as an owner/operator have to give a little. 

Also on the enroute phase, if multi engine and above 2,000 agl, texting should be allowed. It is well known that above 2,000 feet there are no birds and most traffic is on with atc and gets traffic alerts up there.
