80 dollars an hour to fly tours out of FL.... Who would of thought you could make more money flying a R44 then HEMS.

depending on how many hours you fly....if you don't fly, you don't get paid.....If i don't fly in HEMS, i still collect a check...I haven't flown all week and still collect my check and 3 of those days was OT with a paid Stipend....so I highly doubt you get paid MORE than a HEMS, since you have to hustle flying...plus is that Collective time or on the clock time? Most tours morons pay collective time |

Because flying tours in an R44 is a harder job than sleeping all night because of "weather". HEMS pilots are the most overpaid primadonnas in the industry. |

Most of us flying HEMS do about 10 hours a month on average so it would be an easy thousand dollars an hour based on the average pay scale if paid by the hour flt time . lol |

I flew about 150 hours last year and my W2 says I made $189,000. And a couple of the nurses are actually fun to be around. |

That's a lot of work over, and time away from family, not including the 2180 hours you sat a base on top of all that overtime. Plus you don't get retirement matching, plus you don't get free flights around the world, plus you have to fuel your own aircraft, wash your own aircraft, wash your windows, etc. When was the last time a professional pilot in fixed wing did all that.... oh wait... for low wages.
Plus they are getting raises that keep up with inflation, while ALL HELICOPTER PILOTS are losing out. |
