Heard that the Florida State Forestry is dumping the new 119's they recently obtained? Something about lack of performance the manufacturer stated. Any truth to this? What are the projected replacements? Thanks!!! |

helicopter. Flew a 109S for a year and loved every minute of it. Reliable and fast as f. The 119 has power for days. Can't see having any performance issues, especially in FL. |

Hard mounted transmission, bye bye fillings in transition. Parts and engineering support is lackluster at best. Poorly designed/engineered product. Cracks, cracks, and wait for it..... more cracks. |

Nothing wrong with the Hueys they have. The Huey will pull a 320 gallon bucket all day long in Florida and, with water sources everywhere, a Huey could put a lot of water on a fire per hour. The Huey is a simple helicopter that goes hundred hour to hundred hour with very little unscheduled maintenence and parts are widely available, as well. Using a 119 for firefighting makes about as much sense as L.A. City Fire Department using the AW139. There's areason you never see these airframes used in the fire world. |

The 139, for example, is comparable in cost to a Type 1 helicopter but, in terms of water-dropping, delivers Type II performance. When LA City Fire went from Bell 412s to the 139s, they gained only about 40 gallons of water tank capacity. For about the same cost, they could have purchased UH60/S70s and neary tripled their water-dropping capacity. That's why there are a lot of Hawks in the firefighting world and nearly zero 139s. |
