To go work with my Step dad, for my step dad...he's a shop foreman.....at the welding shop, Halliburton.

It's Air Conditioned.

Welding, fitting, and possibly Installing AC on anything they need fab'd up for use offshore.

Currently I make $47.65 an hour at my commuter job.....been there since 2000.

Pros:

Home every night. no more driving I-10

Air Conditioned shop.

Cons:

no more per diem.

He can only start me at 40 an hour since I have zero welding experience.  But can tack on tech bonus if I can do the AC work and wiring no prob.

I might take him up on it.  Working in Non Air Conditioned hangars in excessive heat warnings for the last month straight with no relief in sight is akin to planting sugar cane by hand in the fields.  It's 2023 not 1823.

Pretty bad when a high school drop out, because lets face it, his entire crew of welders barely graduated high school.....all make about what I make working in the AC.  To think them dudes don't even break a sweat and we out here dying in the heat, sky rat infested hangar.

For yourself and your family. At the end of the day you get a better life and they do as well as a byproduct of a non fed-up man.

Though I had a good career in RW, there were many times I wondered how much better it could have been with the airlines. If I had to do it all over again, airlines would have been my first choice.
