toss up IMHO, probably coast guard in a crazy place like alaska that goes out for rescue at night, bad weather, over water etc.. And or most physically and mentally demanding? probably production heli logging. |

Cause flying a 2am rescue mission in hurricane weather at night over the sea is equivalent to a guy flying a group of 4 over a big hole in the ground.....put down the pipe. |

1: any flying where somebody is trying to shoot you down 2: a logging pilot trying to fly an ILS without an autopilot 3: a IFR pilot trying to pull logs with a 200 foot ling line |

who did 20 in Coast Guard, including Alaska, says no. Most demanding he found was offshore for, then, Cougar off Newfoundland. Claimed he'd have a drawer full of DFCs if his flying with them had been with CG. Tend to agree very much so. Our offshore vis limit was 600'. At that you'd better be properly positioned and dead nuts on closure to be successful to a helideck, floater at that. White knuckles? Was for me but faster thinkers with more talent were ok with it all. Wail away. |

Especially doing it day after day after day three times a day! Nerd? Ok. Thanks for the adjustment. Coast Guard is the best of the services but if you do 50 - 80 hours a month doing what coasties do a few times a year there's not much comparison experience-wise though both are capable, just not both practiced.
