Sucky thing about the helicopter world: all the really cool jobs are in places you wouldn't ever want to live (or at least not for very long) OR they pay crap.
Go fixed wing first and start a career there first if you have the choice; THEN get your RW ratings if you see an opportunity that seems worth transitioning toward
