What gives. About 1/2 the pilots out there seem to add "and" before the start their radio transmssion. "And tower" "and approach ". Drives me nuts Please stop. |

Back in the day, when using COMSEC equipment, you had to pause a bit for the channelization(?) before transmitting. It was a convenient way to hold the frequency open until you heard the audio that indicated it was time to talk. Over time it became a habit in the military and then a social contagion after that. |

way for 70 years or more. Came from the annals of military aviation with pilots trying to make listeners think a lot of decision making is ongoing. If you go overseas to work and hear it the nationality of the pilot may be obvious. True that. I'm way past military work and it bugged the chrapppp out of me then as well. Stupid is as stupid does. |
